madrileños's are party animals, despite municipal meddling and earlier
closing times. So be ready to enjoy the night.

is is the better city to go out and drink and party.
To have a drink
in nice bars, go to Viva Madrid C/Manuel Fernández y González
7, and Los Gabrieles C/Echegaray 17, with their fabulous decoration
wall. For something more local, the dusty old tabernas around Plaza Mayor, with
vermouth and cerveza pulled from silver taps. For pub-crawl and free chupitos,
Calle Huertas, the Plaza Santa Ana and the streets around are fantastic.
Very close is the multiethnic Lavapiés, and la Latina,
popular with the bohemian crowd.
Chueca is the centre of Madrid's gay area, but it's also
the place to be. Go around the Plaza de Chueca, enjoy the
terrazas during the summer, and close by are mixed bars
such as Liquid (C/Barquillo 8).
